As Microsoft winds down its licensing of Windows XP to computer makers (ending 30 June 2008), CEO Steve Ballmer told a news conference in Belgium, they could have second thoughts.
"If customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments," said Ballmer.

This isn't new, but news is that Motorola may be shutting down its handset division. It's been reported that Carl Icahn, an activist shareholder, is pressuring it to sell or restructure the bleeding division.

If anything else, the upcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA just goes to prove that Microsoft urgently needs a dedicated Creative dept, or a new one at least.
Unlike previous SE smart phones, which ran on the Symbian UI, the XPERIA will be running WM6.1 instead.
