So
Google Chrome is out in beta and while there are a few bugs to iron out, let's revisit the revolutionary components that make it a great browser.
5. Dynamic tabs
Before Chrome, tabs were all clustered under the browser window. If one goes, they all go. Now tabs run independantly of each other, meaning you get a more stable environment on the web and organize them with great ease.
4. Seperate private browsing
Safari had private browsing but it applies to all windows in the browser. Now you can surf discreetly on a designated window without loosing the history of your normal SFW pages. Just choose to open a link in an Incognito window and your private info stays in that window.
3. Multi processes
Instead of taking the traditional linear approach to loading web content, Chrome takes a hint from multicore CPUs by seperating the processes and loading them simultaneously. The result is significantly faster implementation of Javascript and overall reduction in load times.
2. Application Shortcuts
Taking a page from Safari's webclips, this feature allows you to open any page in a seperate window instantly without using a browser. Now you can open up any online flash game from the comfort of your desktop.
1. New Tab Page
This is by far the most refreshing element in the browser. For years, users can only choose between opening a 'homepage' or a blank page. But by compiling a list of frequently visited sites, Chrome automatically customizes the browser to suit your browsing habits.
Chrome has undoubtedly changed the way we think of web browsers and has raised the bar in the browser wars. This is just the tip of the ice berg, just imagine where it will be in a few years time.
