As Microsoft winds down its licensing of Windows XP to computer makers (ending 30 June 2008), CEO Steve Ballmer told a news conference in Belgium, they could have second thoughts.
"If customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments," said Ballmer.
The fact is, most customers are clinging on to XP and are waiting it out until the next OS comes out, supposedly in 2010.
Rumor has it that Dell is planning to sell XP loaded PCs until 2012. Whether these are post-downgraded machines or not we don't know. But one thing's for sure, XP is here to stay, and it seems people are doing anything they can to get it (including downgrading).
